Real World Examples and Easy to Implement

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of hyperbole, or even over the top reviews, because, let's face it, nothing is absolutely 5-star perfect. However, I am giving Perry Marshall's book an overwhelming 5-star review because it changed my life. Sound like hyperbole? I know. But here's the thing: my husband's family-owned business was in serious, serious trouble, and the person doing the AdWords had convinced us that the only way to compete was to spend more money, even though we were already spending over 6 figures a year. Our CPCs were going up and our CTR and page views were going down--fast. The reason this book is different--and, in fact, life changing--is because Perry understands that it is about more than just AdWords. It's about your product or service and your customer. Using examples and stories, this book helped me understand how to identify our USP, write great ads, and drill down our targeted keywords to the nth degree, lowering our CPC and increasing our CTR. In two weeks after implementing what I learned in this book, I increased our overall clicks per day by 30% and brought down our daily spend by 20%.
It changed by life because I didn't do any of this for a job or a client. I did it for the family-owned business that keeps the roof over my head and the food on the table. Watching the relief in my husband's face as the phones began to ring over and over again, has been priceless.

Skip the first half of each chapter and you've got yourself a comprehensive guide to AdWords

I was expecting lots of hype with very little information in this kind of book, but actually the book is very well-structured and doesn't put TOO much emphasis on the author's and his friends' services.

On the minus side, you can pretty much skip the first half of every... single... chapter: first the author goes on to "sell" you for several pages about how exciting and miraculous the contents of the chapter will be, then "but wait!" he tells you a couple of stories about clients who had this or that happen to them for another few pages, before finally getting to the point. Reminds me of those sleezy e-book sales pages. You can definitely tell that the author is a much better salesman than he is a writer. (I've PAID for the book, stop selling it to me! I think this 40% of every chapter was written for people who flip through pages at the bookstore before purchasing, and intended to be skipped by actual readers.)

HOWEVER, that remaining 50% is a gold mine of up to date information covering everything I can possibly imagine about AdWords, so I'm satisfied. I just wish the author wasn't so afraid of losing book sales as to dilute the contents so much. (Yes, 40% + 50% is still missing 10%: that's taken by the ending of each chapter, which recaps in list form. Some people may like that so I'm not counting it as a waste of paper like the intros.)

An Honest Guide to Google AdWords by a Real Expert

What I ** LOVE ** about this book is its honesty. For example, Perry tells you POINT BLANK never EVER have a Google rep "optimize your account," and he explains that - unfortunately - many of the Google AdWords reps are not very good. Most of the other books on Google AdWords are apologetics - they don't really "tell it like it is" but rather tell you "like Google would have you believe." This book is full of excellent tips and tricks, even for seasoned veterans, plus great resources, plus a wonderful "objective" attitude. I can see why Perry says he's #1 in AdWords, and he's right.

The Final Nail in the Divergent Series Coffin

** ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS **

For those of us, and there are many, that were disappointed with Allegiant (Divergent Series), Veronica Roth's collection of novellas in Four: A Divergent Collection (Divergent Series) is a kind reminder that the Divergent series was really a good trilogy if only more depth and distinction was delivered from Tobias' perspective.

Each novella is very short, with the entire book totaling about 300 pages. It was a breeze to read through in two sittings.

The set of novellas document events that take place both before and during the first Divergent novel and helped me fill in the many gaps left in the story of Tobias' life. Starting two years before Tris transfers to Dauntless, we are given a new, albeit still limited, perspective of the characters in the original Divergent novel.

The first three novellas, The Transfer, The Initiate, and The Son have the most depth and kept me really interested. It gave me a great new vantage point similar to re-reading Divergent through the eyes of a new narrator. In the Transfer, we are immediately entangled in the Dauntless world reminiscent of Tris' initiation. The books focus on Tobias' life, his choice to flee, and the emotions that haunted him in doing so. The Traitor brings together the time when Tris' arrives in Dauntless. This gives the reader, in my opinion, a different understanding and appreciation of Four's character as told in Divergent.

Four: A Divergent Collection is nicely written and uniquely put together as short novellas. However, I am not sure it makes up for the disappointment with how Allegiant ended. And given the interviews from Veronica Roth's book tour, it looks like the final nail is in the coffin of a series that never adequately concluded.

NOTE: The Kindle version does NOT have Free Four or the "three exclusive scenes" that are apparently included in the print version. Because of this, just buy the books separately. There's no reason to spend MORE for the collection.

I was really looking forward to reading from Four's POV, because even though Tris may have had a better story, I found Four to be a more compelling character. These novellas were just OK. Not as bad as Allegiant, but not nearly as captivating as Divergent - which I loved. There were some inconsistencies with the main trilogy which was disappointing to see. (Where are the editors?!) The last novella (Traitor) seemed rushed to me. Lots of dialogue, but not nearly as much of Four's inner monologue as we saw from Tris in Divergent. i would have rather had fewer, well-fleshed out scenes than a bunch of short-takes with little development.

After the disaster that was Allegiant and the ham-handed way these novella's are written, I think I am done with Roth. She can't seem to write well with a deadline. There is some excellent fanfic out there that is worth your time though. Do a search for "Determinant: One choice changes everything". That book is a replacement for Allegiant and the author is also doing some stories from Four's POV which are also very well done.

I am a huge fan of reading, and I tend to get picky with the books I read. This book is very completing to my Divergent Book collection! I own all Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant books so this is the only one I was missing! I loved Four's perspective as it is very refreshing, and gives an insight to how he perceived everything aside from Tris. The product arrived intact, hardcover as I had ordered, and the smell of new book is just amazing! There were absolutely no scratches or damages to the product and it came in a box, since I ordered a bunch of books, all cushioned, too! Absolutely fantastic ^^

This is a massive, detailed book that seeks to lift the lid on the world of brand psychology, explaining why customers can be immensely loyal and trusting of certain brands, especially when seeded by positive vibes through corporate social responsibility and ethical transparency programmes.
Make no mistake, this is not a quick read. Twenty-two detailed chapters cover this incredibly interesting world, as viewed from both customer and brand perspective. The science behind our behaviour is examined in minute detail, challenging along the way some preconceptions and common understandings. All of this knowledge is backed up by case studies and advice from neuropsychologists, economists and industry participants.
If there is one criticism it is just that the book can be too overwhelming. You have to put it down, take a break and continue at a later stage. The poor old brain just can’t cope with this flood of information within a long-march sequential read, so the book being broken down into so many chapters is a good thing. A very detailed index at the end also helps the reader, so you can deep-dive into the book to find a piece of specific information as you wish. It appears that the book doesn’t include citations and further reading suggestions as would benefit a reference book suitable for academic research (although this was a pre-release review book but there was no suggestion that such a chapter was “to follow”.)
The book’s internal design and navigational elements left a fair bit to be desired. It seemed to be a bit of an unorthodox mix that did not really help the reader. With a book of this size and complexity, each and every aid should be seized upon with gusto.
Yet considering the material covered, the author has done a great job and produced a highly informative, interesting, enjoyable and addictive book.

I have never read or seen a scary type of book or movie before I read Merry Christmas Bitch from the Christmas in Hell book

I always read sweet light Christian love stories and novels and have never read or seen a scary type of book or movie before. So when my brother called and told me that his story Merry Christmas Bitch was being published as a short story I had to purchase it and did so immediately to show my sisterly/loving support for him. I sat down to enjoy the writings of this remarkable man (Skip Novak) and was confusingly caught up in the story itself that by the end of the story I was shell shocked, stunned and an emotional mess. I immediately crawled into bed and prayed to Jesus for hours to please bring peace to me and to assist in getting rid of these thoughts and images. I prayed that Jesus would help to clear my mind and keep my thoughts cleaned and pure once again so that I could have a peaceful sleep full of positive thoughts of Jesus and his wonders. I am not sure how many times I recited the Lord’s prayer to bring my mind and conscious back to Jesus and get rid of the inner turmoil that was going on in my mind, but Jesus succeeded once again and was able to assist me in a peaceful slumber. So if this is something you enjoy reading and your emotions playing turmoil then this is defiantly the book for you. The writing was great, and kept you riveted throughout the story. Me, I immediately went out and purchased a couple more of my Christian love stories and have resumed my normal reading routine.
