In my series of books, I try to uncover the truth about the man behind the game, so you’ll know what’s really going on in his mind. What a good read!

This is a very upfront, honest read. Some of the material may offend certain people, but that's only because they're in denial and do not understand the basic concepts of instincts and basic biology. In any case, this read was actually a decent eye opener for me. I mean, it's not the holy grail of social science and psychology, it touches on the basics and it's written by a man, someone who knows the male psyche rather well. I went through a rough break-up. I did everything in here that he states pushes a man away. In the beginning, I was the fun, loving, carefree, independent, confident, non-jealous chick and as the relationship progressed and I found out what kind of man I was dating and I became too available, needy, way over emotional, and even afraid he would leave me. I was completely and utterly not myself. Yikes, where did the old me go?!

When we first started dating, he was very clear to me that he did not want a relationship. First red flag. I was warned by other people about him, people who told me how much of a player he was. Second red flag. But he was charming, handsome, smooth, smart. He was a ladies man and women would hang on every word he said, including myself. He knew all of the right words and the challenge was exciting for me. It felt AWESOME that he chose me and all of the other girls were left pining for MY man. Third red flag. He was adventurous, always out, extremely spontaneous and carefree. He lived solely to enjoy himself and have fun. Another red flag!

As time went on, there were inconsistencies that I began to notice. I would catch him in little white lies. I tried to tell myself they weren't that big of a deal. He would always tell me how much better he wanted to do for himself, but his actions were never consistent with his "goals". When we would argue, he would disappear and go MIA, I mean for weeks! That did a number on my self confidence when in all actuality I should have left that tool right there & then! He would never speak of the future with "us", only about him and what he was still working toward. Basically, if I read this book sooner I would have been better equipped and read the warning signs sooner. Don't think for one second this can't happen to you, I tried to be the girl who changed him, the one who was good enough and special enough and lucky enough to change his ways. Guess what, I wasn't, and it hurt like hell to fall in love with this man only to walk away broken hearted.

This is a great read for anyone who is single and/or dating, anyone who feels as though maybe something is "wrong" in their current relationship and/or you're just at a crossroads and unsure. Nobody is perfect, I understand, but if you're not getting what you want out of a relationship, why stay? Read this for understanding, read this for shi*ts and giggles and cuddle up under a blanket, read this for empowerment. If you constantly find yourself in the wrong relationships and you're tired of it... give this a read.

Will definitely be reading more by this author. He has quite the sense of humor, too :)

Great information contained in this book!

I have two daughters... two still single daughters. One has been with her boyfriend for over 5 years, but they're not married yet. When I was alerted this author had a new book out, and I read the title, I KNEW I had to pick up this book!

I found it to be extremely interesting reading, and it really opened my eyes about the ins and outs of how some men operate. The author details the traits of men who won't commit, and the mistakes that women make with them. The author outlines the traits that men who are not going to commit share, both the obvious and the not so obvious. It includes information on why they play the games they do, what type of man is a game player, why they won't commit to you, and when and why you should let them go.

However, my favorite part, or the part I like the best, is that the author gives women a ton of tips to find out whether or not the man they're dating is a loser or a keeper. The author calls it "how to force him to show his cards." That part of the book alone is worth the price of the book.

Thankfully for my daughter, her boyfriend is a keeper.

Whether you are in a relationship, or you are like me, a mother worried about her daughter's relationship, you need this book! It will either make you feel better, or confirm your fears but at least you'll know.

Helps to clear up the confusion

Extremely helpful! I've always found men to be difficult to figure out and I have a tendency to forgive a lot...too much in fact, in part because of abuse from both parents, but especially my father's beatings...I tend to be forgiving in the hopes that the bad behavior will be corrected. This book has done a lot to clear up the ambiguity in my mind as to the male (at least the one's that I've chosen) intent.

Collection of period article reprints, with appropriate pluses and minuses

A collection of reprints of articles from 1963 to 2004 with the great majority being 1965 to 1971. Many models are covered, without counting them I would say the bulk cover the 600, 280 or the 300. Don't look for color, it's all in black and white here (and probably was for the original source articles in most cases). As you would expect, the quality of the articles varies, and many are repetitive. There is no way most of us would find even a handful of these articles on our own, and this is a worthy buy for fans of the big old Benzes.

A great reference book for rarely covered Mercedes.

A typically great Brooklands book! It is a wealth of period information on these Mercedes and does a fine job of covering all of them, not just the more popular 600 and 300SEL 6.3. The road tests come from many different sources and give a well rounded view of subject. I have a dozen or so Brooklands Books and highly recommend the series.

This is a decent historical and popular-science account of the Zika virus intended for a general audience. McNeil is a deft and effective science journalist, and keeps the book interesting and informative. I enjoyed his account of tracking down a small group of scientists who had come down with Zika virus (prior to the outbreak), proving that human-to-human exposure existed. The accounts of microcephaly were jarring, but illustrated the author's points about prevention. One qualm I had was that at times, he seemed to deemphasize the severity of Guillain Barre syndrome, an autoimmune-mediated reaction against nerve cells causing severe weakness. Though it is true that patients can make a full recovery, a subset of patients are left with disability and in the acute phase, patients are at risk for respiratory compromise and cardiac arrhythmias. Additionally, the subtype of neuropathy (acute motor axonal neuropathy) most associated with Zika virus tends to cause a more severe motor weakness than the typical Guillain Barre triggered by other inciting infections and have a more prolonged recovery.

This is a good book for a general audience, and the Q/A section at the end is accessible for most readers. If you are looking for a more precise account of Zika's effects on the developing brain, JAMA Pediatrics (11/3/16 issue) published a very thorough literature review on the defects associated with congenital Zika. As a neurologist-in-training I found this book to be a bit simplistic, but a good starting point for starting a dialogue with patients asking questions about Zika. While he does make some controversial recommendations re- pregnancy and planning, most of his suggestions (using mosquito repellant, avoiding endemic areas in the summer if possible, covering skin as much as possible when in high-risk areas) are good common practice.

...you should read this book. It is the clearest description of the way the current issues with Zika have been managed by governmental health agencies. As a practicing OB/GYN, I learned a lot from this book. The Q&A at the end is one of the clearest presentations of the facts about Zika that I have seen.

Definitive Essay thet Presaged theGlobalization Debate

In the light of September 11th, many Americans are asking the rhetorical question 'Why do they hate us so?' This essay from 1965 brilliantly outlines the forces, in modern liberalism, that are antagonistic to local culture. The lament that it describes is a lament for a local nationalism that has been abandoned by its population in favor for the attractions of a global culture based on American values. These American values are the values of the modern culture, in which traditional values which provide meaning to life are abandoned for the ease which modern technology can bring. Traditional values which provided meaning but also constraints to human life and action are being abandoned according the this book view for a shallow notion of human freedom. This shallow freedom is the freedom to enjoy temporary conveniences at the expense of the ability to live life in compatibility with eternal principles. What meaning that modern life can provide are rationalizations of self-indulgence which will be adjusted to fit the needs of technology as it evolves in its self-defined way.
The book describes how Canadians have abandoned their traditional 'conservative' values in favor of the easy continentalist option of acquiring American wealth by accepting American values. The author describes how 1960s Gaullism in France was a reaction to the same forces. The same observations can be made today about the knee-jerk anti-Americanism in Europe and France in particular that is paradoxically based on the inherent attractiveness of American values. The American culture is becoming the world culture. It is dispossessing all other cultures that it encounters. This provokes a reaction among 'conservative' (which includes the globalization protestors who in this book's terms are conservative in respect to culture although they would see themselves as anarchistic, radical etc.) who fear that the cultures that they value are going to be lost to the forces of technic- `the one best way'.
I cannot do justice to this book which links these ideas into the flow of Western ideas. It shows the conflicts that of these differing sets f ideas in the works of philosophers and theologians. it does so in a manner that is very accessible to the general reader but has also provided a basis for research by professional philosopher's, political scientists etc. for the 37years since it was published.
This book is on a par with Jacques Ellul's 'The Technological Society.' It is a book that will be remembered and studied for hundreds of years. It uses as its starting point the issue of Canadian nationalism but its implications are universal. I wish that I could give it six stars.

A superb commentary on Canada - U.S. culture & politics.

This is an extraordinary book dealing with the pervasiveness of U.S. culture in Canada, and how Canadians have seemingly allowed their own culture and politics to be subsumed into American versions. Although written from a small-c conservative point of view, and in the 1960s, it remains an extraordinary book that will intrigue any person interested in Canada and US relations. In addition, Mr. Grant is a gifted writer; his fluent use of words in a serious political work such as this one, only accentuates his poetic capabilites.

She's good, but maybe she doesn't need to keep reminding us

Kate Perry is an excellent storyteller. She writes great romance, establishes really interesting characters, and keeps me laughing. She's definitely on my "must buy" list.

I have to take away one star, though, because she did something (again) that makes me absolutely crazy. I was happily reading along and then came to a character talking about the author. As in, "Kate Perry is my favorite author. She's such a great writer." Scrrrrrreeeeeeccchhh. It pulled me out of the story world instantly and I had to get past my annoyance to keep reading.

I've read reviewers of her other books where she has done this comment about how funny it is. I don't agree. I wish the author would let us spend the entirety of the book living in the world she crafted instead of trying to toot her own horn where it really doesn't need to be tooted.

Save the best for last is the way to go. I immediately fell in love with Kate's stories when I started reading the Laurel Heights series but The Summerhill series is divine. It's a perfect ending to finish with Bea, the sister who suffered the most because of Reginald. The most successful sister, the true glue of the family and she deserves the best, Luca, the only alpha male who could win the heart of an alpha female such as Bea. Kate has me hooked on her books I love her series and excited that this series has a spin off. Maybe the Summerhiil sisters will have cameos in this new series. Kate is the only author that is on my auto purchase list. It kills me to say anything negative about her books but I hope she listens to her readers and stops mentioning herself in her stories, it pulls me right out of the lovely fantasy world she has created. I know you think it's funny Kate, but stop it. Thank you for creating such strong sexy female characters.

I totally love Kate Perry novels so much. She knows how to create such addicting series that no one reader can stop reading the series. Kate Perry has finally wrote about Beatrice and Luca love story. All reader have been waiting for Beatrice and Luca story that it did not disappoint at all. All reader will love how hot Beatrice and Luca chemistry are because they will burn the pages as you read through their story. Beatrice is the oldest sibling in Summerhill that she had big responsibility in her family. She has always been known to take care of her family. She never depend on anymore because she never wanted to disappoint her father. I definitely love when I get to see the valuable side of Beatrice that I finally get to know more about her. She fears of losing her independence if she depends on someone. However, there is one man who will totally move heaven and earth for Beatrice, which is the sexy and sinful Italian Luca.
