Please give this book as a gift to those you love.....and those you don't

Wow, this is a book everyone could benefit from! Professionals can recommend this book to their clients and then the clients can share it with friends and family. The writing is easy to follow and examples assist in complete understanding. Parents would do well to read this early on and begin thoughtful practices. This author has an excellent website also, helpguide.org , that is extremely well done and useful for anyone interested in understanding their own emotions and how to go about improving the quality of their relationships. The research based foundation for the interventions and practices allow one to move forward with peace that they can really make positive lasting change.

If you want to learn how to connect with people...

What I liked most about this book was the combo of information and practical application. Half the time I was nerding out on all the neuroscience facts, but I also walked away with simple yet effective exercises that actually help me apply the science to my life (which is what really matters at the end of the day.)

The big point is that there's a difference between being loved and *feeling* loved. It doesn't matter how many people you have around you telling you how much they love you-- if you don't know how to receive it, it won't make a meaningful difference in your life. But the problem is, getting your brain to *receive* love can be a science all in itself. If you're bad at connecting with people emotionally, you know what I'm talking about. But like she says in the book, "We need to engage the emotional parts of our brain to be our most intelligent." So basically, this book will make you smart.

Rambling topic changing nonsense that never fulfills the title's claim

This book is a rambling joke, most of which has nothing to do with feeling loved.
Here it is:
Chaper 1: Feeling loved is important. We need to feel loved. (examples of what bad things happen when we dont feel loved) - no hint on how to feel loved yet.
Chapter 2: "Stress is bad. Its very important to not have stress. (more examples of how stress has destroyed lives) Repeat! Stress isn't good! You need to decrease your stress instantly using quick sensory techniques that work really well!" - never tells readers what these techniques are or gives any examples of how they work.
Chapter 3: Being in touch with your emotions is important! (more awful stories of ruined marriages) -hints that the key to knowing your emotions is some "ride the wild horse meditation" no other info given.
Chapter 4: Ride the wild horse! A run-of-the-mill breathing meditation that keeps pain and stress in ones awareness for as long as possible. Sit with the pain. Breathe in the hurt. Nothing to do with feeling loved, emotional awareness, or horses of any kind.
The end

I give this book an F for False Advertising. A rambling mess of topic chasing, tangents and unfulfilled promises - the pinnacle of which is a breathing meditation. Thanks for nothing. Can I give zero stars? I want to give zero stars. Never have I been so outraged by a BOOK. I want my money back. Really.

Misleading and Disorganized

I bought the kindle edition, it's completely riddled with advertisements before it even gets to the table of contents which aren't interactive in the least. There's no organization and it seems like a jumbled cook book only using wiccan ingredients. If I'd paid more then $2.99 for it, I'd feel really ripped off. I'm glad to see they yanked the kindle version, I hope they will fix the book's layout.

I bought this book a few months ago and it is great for the inexperienced cook because of the detailed appendix it has. It has a few good recipes but it is chock full of adverstising, cheesy clip art and wicca galore. I don't feel ripped of paying the $17.99 for it but its MOST DEFINATELY NOT WORTH the $999.99 that these wackdoodles are trying to get for it. What is up with that? All the books that are recommended on different forums skyrocket in price. Its barely a year old.

An Adventurers’ dream book! Viking ships, Iceland, free-divers, dogsled races, sailing, tightrope walking and more!

I have read Jeff Blumenfeld’s book Get Sponsored: A Funding Guide for Explorers, Adventurers, and Would-Be World Travelers and it was inspirational, wonderfully written, thought provoking and very clever. Blumenfeld has a gift of being "the voice" and "telling the story". I really enjoyed all the personal stories, reflections and marketing techniques. Plus the photos in the middle section of the book enhanced the images I drew in my mind reading each adventure / strategic marketing plan.

While reading the book I ended up Google-ing so many things and checking out many of the websites, people and stories Blumenfeld wrote about. The journey continues, even after you finish reading a book thanks to the power of the Internet, you can check in and up on things!

I never knew about Tango, the pedal powered boat at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut, or pareidolia which helps to explain a some 9-11 images that look like a devil face in smoke behind the twin towers. I also never knew or thought about those who turned down adventures, like the man who turned down being Amelia Earhart's navigator which Blumenfeld writes about.

I found the book Get Sponsored fascinating! I really liked the Will Stenger Foundation’s plastic tube that traveled the Arctic sea to Country Donegal, Ireland, and then the man that found the item, turns down a trip to NYC to be part of this cool historic event! People are so unpredictable! I've struggled with spelling my, whole life, and I found it hopeful, that spelling mistake "expidition" was the "it" thing that caught your eye. I am constantly working on proofreading. It's so amazing how people choose to spend their life or what makes someone passionate about a certain thing.

I rated this book 5 stars because it is an Adventurers’ dream book! With topics like Viking ships, Iceland, free-divers, dogsled races, sailing and tightrope walking, it's all so interesting. I truly am in a constant state of amazement in this life, and enjoy hearing about peoples adventures, endeavors and travels. Thank you for making me aware of becoming a citizen scientist and finding my niche to contributing to the further advancement of human kind, I never thought about that before. It is very exciting stuff!

The book covers so many topics and interesting people! A great read! I would recommend to anyone in the adventure community or those who love to live vicariously and dream really big!

Author Jeff Blumenfeld has worked in adventure marketing and is a specialist when it comes to getting the funds you need to go on that death defying mountain climb. “Get sponsored: A funding Guide for Explorers, Adventurers, and would-be World Travelers” is the only book out there which intricately explains and goes behind the scenes of iconic, inspiring and historical contemporary adventures. About the Author
Jonni Good is obsessed with both animals and art – she is constantly surrounded by her growing menagerie of masks, paper mache animal sculptures, and plenty of real critters, too – her pets sometimes “help” her in her studio.

Jonni started drawing animals back in grade school, which was a very, very long time ago. Doing the research required for her artwork is almost as fun for her as doing the artwork itself, because it allows her to learn so much about history and the natural world. This was particularly true with her latest book, How to Make Masks! because the history of this art form spans at least 35,000 years.

In her “spare” time, she answer questions from fellow paper mache sculptors from all over the world – you’ll find many lively conversations in the comments section on her blog at UltimatePaperMache.com. She is also the author of the book Make Animal Sculptures with Paper Mache Clay.

Great starting place!

A very good book! I would like to note that I have created a slight tweak to the overall technique that massively reinforces the mask: First allow the mask to very thoroughly dry. This is important. Then, dilute some PVA glue, until it's about the thickness of cream. Get some paper strips, like you would for regular paper mache, but use a tough, medium to heavy weight paper, such as from paper grocery bags. Moisten the paper VERY lightly, run between your fingers to remove any excess water. Then dip in the glue and run the piece of paper between your fingers to remove excess glue. Very carefully line the interior of the mask with a couple of layers of these strips. You want the mask to be VERY dry, because if it is still wet when you do this, the dampness from the new paper strips might make it deform. I've made two masks with these extra layers of paper, and they're incredibly resilient. One of them was a test mask, and I dropped it, and sorta roughed it up to see what kind of abuse it could take. It is still completely intact. I think I would need to put it under a car tire or use a large hammer and considerable force to break it. The sturdiness of it is comparable to if I had made it out of hardwood. I believe this technique would allow for some even more complex sculptures, too! If you're hesitant to buy this book, it's absolutely worth the small price asked. :)

I knew I would love this book!

Recently I searched mask-making and came across a YouTube tutorial posted by Jonni Good. She was so thorough and made her techniques look so easy; I couldn't wait for her to post the next segment of the process. After watching all three YouTube posts on her Panalone mask, I bought this book. Great recipes for gesso and paste that are über easy and inexpensive. The author's explanations in the book are as concise and understandable as her tutorial videos - really, really good stuff! Lots of great photos. I recommend this book for paper mâché artists at any level. I have some experience with mask-making, paper mâché and the history of comedia del arte and I found this book to be a very worthwhile investment.

Aside: Jonni Good seems to be a real animal lover. Her cat is singing (meowing) away in one of the video tutorials. Pretty funny.

get the book and get it messy

Jonni is the go to person for all things paper mache related. I don't make masks but I bought this book 1)to support this generous artist who so graciously shares her experience online at ultimatepapermache.com and 2) I wanted to have the step outs and recipes in my studio as I was creating. I have tweaked the recipes to suite my needs but truly appreciate having her wealth of experience right by my side as I am working in the studio. My book is messy now but that just shows how much I have used it. Thank you Jonni!!!

"The Production of the Muslim Woman: Negotiating Text, History, and Ideology" by Lamia Ben Youssef Zayzafoon", paperback & hardback (2005), 213 pgs. The author opines that there is no generic Muslim woman. The author focuses upon French colonial and postcolonial influences on Muslim women living in the Maghreb (northern Africa) region. One reviewer (Schirin Amir-Moazami) contends that Zyazafoon's Muslim women do not exist "outside of constructions and that these constructions are always linked with, and even based on, mechanisms of power operating at intersections of race, nation, gender, class, and religion" - something Amir-Moazami believes are frequently similar to those espoused by Edward Said his book: "Orientalism".
