Great series, fun reading.

This is a real page turner without the cheap tricks of some authors (*cough* Patterson *cough*), like 2-page "chapters" with cliff-hangers in each. The violence is what you might reasonable expect in a story about alien invasion and the consequent chaos. However, it's not nearly as bad as true stories from human history. I read the series (so far) mostly on my exercise bike and it made the time fly.
The characters are believable and (mostly) sympathetic. As in any good story you'll love some of them and hate others. The aliens are, well, alien, not bugs or slime or growling monsters but complex and very different intelligent beings with their own motives and methods. This is science fiction and like anything worthy of the name does not stretch credulity to the breaking point: Given "x", then "y" is a reasonable result.
My only real complaint is that this is a series, even though each book works perfectly well and the are cheap to buy. But that's me; in science fiction, as well as other genres, multi-book series are all the rage.

Great continuation of the story

One of the things that I'm enjoying about this series is not knowing where the story is going to go next. I am totally caught up in the characters and in being swept along by the plot. The authors have given the aliens complete technological superiority; yet, their "alienness" (apparently) creates opportunities for the humans. From the first book until the very end of this book, we've seen the story develop completely from the point of view of humanity. However, the very last scene begins to reveal a piece of the story from the aliens POV. Very interesting. Others who are more broadly read than me may see elements of this series in other author's work. For me, other than it being an alien invasion story it feels very fresh. Didn't know if I would enjoy it to the end. Well, book 4, here I come.

A brutal read. Could not even finish it

Probably one of the worst efforts I have seen these guys do. 2 years have passed since the last book, and I know that the authors will eventually fill in the blanks, but dammit...it takes wayyyyy too long to get there. I made it about 20% through the book, and tried about 50 times to keep getting into it, before I finally gave up. I found the characters too hard to follow: Terence vs. Trevor, Cameron vs Christopher. It was extremely difficult to try to connect events since the last book, and I felt lost. Sorry guys, I enjoyed the first two books, but that's enough for me!
