In order that the work of the boy scouts throughout America may be uniform and intelligent, the National Council has prepared its "Official Handbook," the purpose of which is to furnish to the patrols of the boy scouts advice in practical methods, as well as inspiring information."

These things should be marked better...

Another "historical" copy and not the current BSA handbook. I wish the BSA would publish a Kindle version of the current handbook!

Very misleading - do not buy

As a Boy Scout Handbook
When they state that this product is "the official handbook of the Boy Scouts of America", they omit that this is the original handbook, not the current handbook. They used deliberately ambiguous language to conceal this fact. They do not have copyright information or a publisher's page - I suspect whoever thought of the scam is ashamed to put their name on it.
I'm guessing this is technically legal, with the original handbook's copyright expired, but do not buy this product.
As a historical artifact
The diagrams are scanned poorly, and are small, blurry, and the text is nearly illegible. The words from within the diagram are then repeated after the diagram without any punctuation or indication as to where in the diagram they're from, making for bizarre reading until you figure out what they did. There is (of course) no discussion of the history of the handbook or indeed, any attempt to add value to this product at all.

What a disappointment

I will add to the many other unfavorable reviews. As best I can tell, the "publisher" took a very old Boy Scout manual and hand-keyed the text into a word processor, hoping (I guess) to trick the potential buyer into thinking it was an up-to-date book. But then what to do with the illustrations? The "publisher" scanned them and pasted them into the word processor file.
The honest way to do this would have been to say so. Say that "as a service to the reader, we have reproduced etc." And then the honest thing would have been to state the year (from the copyright notice, if nothing else) of the book from which this text and these illustrations were copied. Instead the reader who has gotten part way through the book, and who has figured out that something is very wrong with the book, is left to thumb backward and forward in the book to try to figure out the year of the book.
